There are several programs and resources that assist educators and families to ensure the health and wellbeing of their children. Raising Children Network has made available accessible guides for common mental illness, trauma and strategies to assist with family wellbeing (Raising Children Network, 2024). KidsMatter Early Childhood affords pragmatic tools for attaching social and emotional wellbeing within an early childhood setting (KidsMatter, 2017).
Children's literature also aids in understanding and building resilience. Books like The Huge Bag of Worries by Virginia Ironside and When Sadness is at Your Door by Eva Eland are pathways to talk about feelings and ways to cope with younger children (Ironside, 1999; Eland, 2018). Educational videos and podcasts such as Sesame Street in Communities offer child-friendly content about feelings, mental health, family changes, etc. (Sesame Workshop, 2023).
